A sacred piece of South Fulton history has been turned into a landfill. Congregants at Pleasant Hill Victory AME Church arrived this week to find over 100 tires dumped directly onto century-old graves, some stacked several feet high. From its roots as a 1910s schoolhouse for Black students to its current role as a spiritual pillar on Stonewall Tell Road, the site’s dignity has been sidelined by a “heartless” act of midnight dumping.
Now, Pastor Lola Russell and the small congregation are facing a $15,000 cleanup bill and a fight for justice. We have the full story on the environmental risks, the felony charges looming for those responsible, and how you can help the church restore these hallowed grounds.
