Harvey Weinstein undergoing treatment for bone marrow cancer

Former movie mogul receives treatment for chronic myeloid leukemia while behind bars at Rikers Island

At one time his name was behind some of Hollywood’s biggest independent films during the 90s: Sex, Lies and Videotapes (1989); The Crying Game (1992); Pulp Fiction (1994); Heavenly Creatures (1994); Flirting with Disaster (1996) and Shakespeare in Love (1998).

Nowadays Weinstein is behind bars of Rikers Island serving a 16-year sentence for a Los Angeles rape conviction from December 2022. It has recently been reported by NBC News that Weinstein has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia. NBC News has tried to reach out to Weinstein’s healthcare representative, Craig Rothfeld, but he refused to provide any additional information due to privacy concerns.

Attorneys for Weinstein is currently appealing a 2022 rape conviction in Los Angeles that he is being held for in Rikers Island. Weinstein is set to serve 16 years.
