Pope Francis reveals that he was the target of a suicide bombing in 2021

Hope: The Autobiography

Rome, Italy – Being that he is the 266th pope of the Roman Catholic Church. There is no telling how many things that Pope Francis has experienced during nearly 11 years of his Catholic leadership. One of those experiences is evading a planned suicide bombing attack on the pope while visiting Iraq in 2021.

In the Pope’s upcoming autobiography, “Hope: The Autobiography,” he shares a story about a suicide attack that was stopped before it could ever take place. The pope explains that he later asked the Vatican security what had happened to the assailants that planned the suicide bombing, and security responded by saying, “Iraqi police had intercepted them and made them explode.” Not too fond of how the situation was handled Pope Francis continued on to say, “This struck me as well: Even this is the poisonous fruit of war.”

The autobiography was original scheduled to be release after Pop Francis’s death, but instead now will be released on Christas Eve, the start of the Vatican’s big holy year celebration.
