A Facebook community rallies together to find a missing Mississippi Woman
Greenwood, Mississippi – Over 400 Facebook live viewers from all over the country rallied together to find a Greenwood, Mississippi, resident, Khalea Brister, 20.
Brister, also known as Cocoa, is the mother of an infant child. She was reported missing by her mother Saturday morning. Greenwood authorities reportedly would not move forward with a missing person report until Brister had been officially missing for 24 hours. Brister was last seen in Greenwood with her silver E350 4matic Mercedes, license plate number LRC 7263.
Paula Buress, the Lil Dredhead Activist, then took it upon herself to lead a Facebook Live that attracted hundreds from all over the country. Viewers posted possible leads to help find Brister, and some viewers also tagged their local news stations to help bring national attention to the story. By the time Buress’s Facebook Live was over with, it was reached by over 15,000 people.
Brister’s mother provided the following statement to Buress, “It’s not uncommon that COCOA phone dies and you won’t hear from her for 30 minutes to a HOUR… it’s not uncommon that if you call she WON’T answer but will call back… but what is UNCOMMON is that COCOA hasn’t been seen, NOR heard from since YESTERDAY MORNING… she LOVES HER BABY & she hasn’t CHECKED on her since yesterday… everyone I have contacted the time frame of speaking with her has been the same… I don’t care about ANYTHING THAT HAPPENED yesterday or didn’t happen, all I care is about is MY CHILD BEING LOCATED AND RETURNED HOME SAFELY…
We’ve been up SEARCHING, no luck… even had the police to go by her APT., I’ve been up her APT also inside it and she’s not there.
NO accidents reported in the neighboring counties with a car description to fit hers.
I can’t officially file a MISSING PERSON REPORT UNTIL 8:00 a.m…
If anyone see’s this CAR or MY CHILD… please contact me, my MOM, DAD, husband, sister, brother, or anyone that you feel can reach ASAP!!!! No one has seen nor talked to her since around 8 yesterday.
