Former President Barack Obama enters Georgia’s gubernatorial contest, backing Atlanta’s former mayor against Republican Rick Jackson.
Former President Barack Obama has endorsed Keisha Lance Bottoms in Georgia’s 2026 gubernatorial election, adding another prominent national political voice to the contest for the state’s highest office.
The endorsement comes just days after Bottoms and Republican nominee Rick Jackson faced Georgia voters in a televised town hall debate. With President Donald Trump and Gov. Brian Kemp supporting Jackson, the race has drawn attention from political leaders in both parties as the November election approaches.
