600 tech workers flex their power during a vital time

New York City, New York – If there is ever a time to strike and show an employer how important one is to their news organization. Striking during the presidential election is certainly that time to do so.

600 employees of the New York Times tech unit started their strike on Tuesday just as the most important day of needed news coverage has begun. The New York Times is relied upon by millions across the country as a vital source of news information, and now that the day of the presidential election is here, they will be relied upon even more.

The tech unit manages everything online relating to the New York Times such as their popular subscription platform and their election needle. The tech unit is seeking better pay, remote work opportunities, and changes to their arbitrary policy.

The management of the New York Times has been negotiating with the tech unit since 2022.
