Michael King, Jr.

We have celebrated and adored a variety of Michaels that was a king in their own right. Michael Jackson was known as the king of pop. Michael Jordan was known as the king of basketball, but did you know that there was also another Michael that was the king of civil rights?

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 15, 1929 as Michael King Jr, but we know him today as Martin Luther King, Jr. During the month of January we celebrate one of the greatest and one true Kings that the world has ever known.

Black History Media is a new platform that will provide editorial blogs, films, trivia and guest vlogs about figures, events, and significant dates related to Black History. Our goal is to not only educate viewers about Black History, but use Black History to help entertain and influence them.

As we work to develop an assortment of content for you to take advantage of. We will be releasing at least two Moment In Black History shorts a month (1st and 3rd weeks). These shorts will consist of one minute of sharing Black History facts. On January 15th, we will be kicking things off by releasing our first “Moment In Black History” short about Martin Luther King, Jr and his original name, “Michael.”

Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan, and others were all kings in their own right, but there was only one true King named Michael, and we all grew to know him as Martin Luther King Jr.
