St. Louis, Mo – A 19-year-old former student of Central Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) has killed two people and several others injured in an on-campus shooting Thursday morning.
The two deaths were of 15-year-old, Alexandria Bell, who would have turned 16 on November 18. The second death was of a teacher by the name of, Jean Kirk Kuczka, 61. On Kuczka’s school district-provided webpage she shared, “I cannot imagine myself in any other career but teaching. In high school, I taught swimming lessons at the YMCA. From that point on, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I believe that every child is a unique human being and deserves a chance to learn. I also believe that Health is the most awesome subject in school, because, without your health, you cannot live to your fullest potential. I love teaching Health and Physical Education and guiding students to make wise decisions. Respect is my favorite word!”
The 19-year-old shooter, Orlando Harris, was shot and killed by the police at the scene. The shooting is still being investigated and a motive has yet to be determined.
