The Atlanta Journal-Constitution accuses Herschel Walker of using false statements to raise campaign money

Atlanta, Ga – Herschel Walker is reported to have an email in circulation accusing the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) of not reporting how he was allegedly called a racial slur.

A member of Walker’s staff allegedly approached a reporter of the AJC to share with them details of the incident and the reporter supposedly laughed. In Walker’s email to his supporters, he writes, “You haven’t heard about this incident from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the largest newspaper in Georgia, because they aren’t covering it. In fact, when one of my campaign staff approached the newspaper’s reporter on the scene, he laughed in our faces after being told about the racial slur hurled at me.”

Walker goes on to say in the email, “If this racial slur had been used against my Democrat opponent, who is also a Black man, you can rest assured the incident would be covered by every media outlet in Georgia and many across the country.”

After the AJC was made aware of Walker’s email circulating among his supporters. The AJC reports that they tried reaching out to Walker to identify their reporter that laughed at the racial slur. The AJC has reported that no one from Walker’s campaign had ever responded.

Kevin Riley, editor of the AJC released the following statement, “We devote ourselves to deep and thorough coverage of politics so that our readers can be fully informed when they make their voting decisions. In fact, we have a journalist assigned full-time to the Walker campaign and often have several staff members at campaign events. The complete fabrication of this false story demonstrates why we’re committed to such coverage.”
